19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.
This represents the player's initial title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court since spring of 2023.
Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an improved service.
The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.
The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
The opponent rescued four initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, he clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
